I am thinking of buying a DVD recorder to replace the ancient VCR we still have and I have checked out some models, but not made my mind up yet.

I am looking for fair to decent playback(Video/Audio) capabilities and easy to use recording and editing functions. HDD size is not that important, so I would say that minimum 80Gb should probably suffice. Progressive scan on component would be a plus and DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW record and read is important. Price I would say below R4500.

I have looked at these models: LG RH-1999 & RH-1757, Phillips DVDR3360H and Pioneer DVR-433H.

Any other suggestions or maybe experiences with either of these models?
