Hi

I have very little knowledge of any of this but am quite sure that in future vinyl will be my "when I have time to really listen" format and CD will kind of vanish and mostly get streamed from a server.

My PC is not Wifi, is not a server, nor particularly fast etc etc

You can buy DVD palyers with a USB multimedia input for as little as R500.00 now.

Here is the idea and I want to know if anyone knows if this will work.

Can I use one of these new DVD players to make a external USB HDD play music via the DVDs digital output into my existing high end hifi DAC? Or is the USB device audio only available on the analogue outputs of the DVD player?
Will these players give me some graphical interface on the TV to scroll through content?
Any playlist type functions?

These DVD players seem to support PCM , MP3 , Dolby Digital , WMA , DTS, I see no apple lossles for eg, would I miss it?

Am i not understanding the functions of these players or could this be the way for the single simple {C family to have an independant music server?
