I've finished getting all the transformers, amplification modules, power supplies, pots, RCA inputs, binding posts, selector for the uberamp mounted on a piece of masonite. I now want to start connecting the signal leads.

To get some sort of star earth, I have a piece of thick aluminium plate mounted in the middle of the board.

Having previously been driven mad by hum with the SRPP and DJ modules, I want to be pre-emptive this time round.

The question is: Do I have to switch the earth wires in my signal leads or can I take them to a central earth - ie the plate - and only switch the live wire?

Thanks in advance.
