Let me be the first to admit that I am eating beeeg humble pie tonight.
Since I have bought the Droplet in December last year, the player gets used very little or otherwise as a workhorse for running signal through new cables or speakers.
Being a bit tired I have decided to play cd's this afternoon and give it a bit of serious listening.
Playing Fourplay and two tracks in particular-Max-o Man and -Bali run had me sitting in shock. There is something about electronics, and Bob James on the keyboard here especially ,that just manages to take one into that fourth dimension, something I have been told that only a Zyx 4d cartridge can do very convincingly, Lee Ritenour's guitar gets played ruthlessly and is a great standout feature, the drumming from Harvey Mason as good as some of the best jazz trio's I have on vinyl. Nathan East on the bass seems almost as real as the time I saw him touring with Ron Kenoly.
What an experience ;D ;D
Other standout tracks are as follows:
Jamiroquai-Little L and Corner of the earth.
Mark Knopfler-Sailing to Philidelphia (a duet with James Taylor) and The last laugh (a duet with Van Morrison)
REM-The Great Beyond and Daysleeper.
Coldplay-Yellow and Trouble
Nakagawa-All Blues and Autumn Leaves (XRCD)
Sara K-Vincent
Fleetwood Mac-Rhiannon, Landslide and The Chain.
Depeche Mode-Precious
All the above were very enjoyable, The Fourplay tracks were the only ones that moved me emotionally.
Let me admit, this was a good afternoon with CD, and before ya'll try and bash me (RR), my turntable still gets all my serious listening
