Does anybody know freeware audio editing program that I can use to clip segments of a digital dictaphone, take out some hiss courtesy of a mic that's too far away (i'm guessing the mic amp had to waork a bit hard...) and turn the volume up? as it obviously sounds like the person is in the room nextdoor... Would it be worthwhile trying, or would it be better re-recording a phone interview with a mic next to a conference phone, decent one... the phone not the mic...
