Id also like to remind him that BUDGET was the key word in my collection, also, some of the things here are not quite vintage. But I though I may as well post my entire collection.

Its very small. I have a fondness of integrated amplifiers. This interest probably started in 1999... way back somewhere in the middle of high school. I dont have any tubes yet, theyre very expensive. vintage stuff on ebay in general have to high shipping costs (never mind the actual cost). There are lots of ming da, yaqin, shenz xian etc.. chinese produced and relatively cheap tube gear. Still, Ive read some negative user reviews of these products and I doubt that Ill consider them again. Valve audio had been brought to my attention, but the entry level products are out of my reach on my student budget. and

id also like to experience separates. id start by using some preampable int amps with some nice separate power sections. but oncve agin, my budget, and now the recession, stagnates me. itching for a mcintosh.

im not quite into home theater yet. i rarely ever get time to sit and watch movies and i dont even have a real TV anyway. i havent heard many AV systems in my experience, but ones that i have heard didnt impress me. so id probably tend towards class A and class AB gear rather than class D. untill my budget allows me to get a tv that is.

1) Marantz 1060:
my favourite piece. its not a powerfull amp but its quite popular and ive brought it up several times on this forum. im listening to it right now as i type this.

2) Sansui A 60: (int amp)
i dont consider this vintage because it was made in the 80's. also inherited from my father. the trouble here is a missing cloume knob which makes it look hideous. black plastic knobs and led power displays dont help in the asthetics department either.

3) philips 700: (int amp)... dont laugh.
i cant find anything on this piece. i dont even know when it was made. i doubt during the time when philips owned marantz. i got it in december. dirt cheap. i was particularly surprised with it bacause althought it was one of those STK models, it sounded really nice. it also looks very pretty. silver face. nice big knobs, and powermeters. (one meter is non fuctional and the bulbs are both out but im going to sort that out soon). its also got a very nice headphone section, dare i say close to the marantz's.

4) akai ac - 100p (turn table).
nothing special... i have it for the sake of being able to say that i own a turn table. i dont have my own LP's so its not frequently used. my parents had lost of LP's but they had no idea how to look after them and now theyre all warped. flattened or ruined by damp. they were mostly very cheap ones. so i wasnt missing out on any audiophile recordings.
in the future id like to get into vinyl, but its not feesable to find all my favourite music on vinyl. CD's seem to be sufficent for me.

things not worth mentioning.

5) my cd player is a cheap logik from game. it was given to me as a birthday present. but my main source is my computer(cd/dvd/tv/fm). theres sort of a paradox here because earlier on i was on about not caring much for class D amplfication, which seems silly when i have very poor digital sources. but i do try to use HQ mp3s. i try to get them all in FLAC. with around say 740 kbps encoding. i find it extremely difficult to listen to anything below 320kbps. ..... no i will NOT buy an IPOD.

6) and finally ....... sakyno pa 100 power amp.
(awaits flying vegetables)
certainly not vintage. less than dirt cheap. a friend traded this me and it cost me about R8. this thing sounds terrible. i got it to use the chassis, and possibly the transformer, for a diy project that never happened.

...

well... hope that family dog still feels that he's not alone.
i do intent to better this collection and lose some of the lousier stuff. but i need a job first.

and now for some questions.

toshiba sx 220c receiver. i cant find any info about this. i know some one who is getting rid of his and wants about R300 for it. its pretty banged up and i dont know what to do about it. is this worth investigating?
