Hi

My domestic electricity bills from the City of Cape Town have rocketed from a stable R350 to R450 per month to well over R850 per month in recent times. There are only two of us and a small dog, living here and we try to switch off things all the time.

Our dishwasher has been "in" for repairs for months and doesn't account for this increase and I haven't yet done anything about switching-off the geyzer during the day.

Yesterday, I had a visitor here who lives in a much larger house with 4 occupants including himself and he informed me his monthly  electricity bill has gone up to a freaky R2'500/month.

I am aware of several models of electricity monitoring devices now available and realise these things will only provide a psychological conscientiousness about domestic energy usage.

Has anyone here any opinions on these gadgets or are there users of these devices?
