Hi again,
Toying with a couple of ideas on how to creatively spend more money (reasonably wisely) on my newly discovered love of headphones ...
As the subject line says ... what do you regard as end-game headphone amplifiers? As a first stab I would list these requirements:
- Enough power (and low enough z) to drive any headphone with authority
- Superior bass and treble extension (and control)
- Neutral tonal balance (a smidgen warm of neutral is OK, but definitely nothing too sweet and syrupy)
- Exemplary imaging and sound staging
- Straight-wire transparency
- Dynamics strong enough to give "lazy" phones good snap
- Strong pride of ownership factor
I have some ideas but want to hear your opinions first
