I've been suspecting for a long time that the hours claimed on CFL (energy saver/compact fluorescent ligth) bulb packaging is, shall we say...optimistic. I now have a set of busted Eurolux 15W CFL bulbs (with day/night switch) that has gone south, together with their original packaging and receipts from Builder's Warehouse. They were purchased 5400hrs ago and the packaging states 6000hrs.
The main reason I'm going to try and return these buggers, is because new ones cost about R80 each, and I would have expected these to have lasted at lest double as long as they have, considering they are only used for max 12hrs / day.
Anyone else have similar issues with CFLs? Personally I find they become less bright over time.
