So I finally bit the bullet and bought myself an Explora decoder to upgrade the lounge PVR 2P decoder, and then upgrade the bedroom std decoder to the PVR from the lounge. Bought it in December from Hi Fi Corp when they had it on special for R2k, and waited until last weekend to get it installed because we were going away etc. in December.

Anyways, I got the installers out on Saturday and the first thing they said was that the dish needed to be upgraded to an 80cm dish (I have a 60cm dish which was upgraded when I put in the dual LNB for the PVR). I ask them why and they say it's because they have signal issues with the Explora and need the strongest possible signal. When they checked the signal strength inside it was at 98% with 100% quality, so signal can't be an issue, can it ?

Anyways, they concede and say that the 60cm dish should be okay, but very hesitantly. At this point I wonder to myself if they're just trying to pad the quotation for the job.  :-\

They carry on doing the rest of the installation and when it comes time to hook up the new Explora, it doesn't respond to the remote control.  :wallbreak:

So now I have to take the bloomin' thing in to Multichoice to get it seen to.

What a bloody headache.

Anyone had similar issues ?
