So the love affair continues with a renewed flame!!
I recently swopped my Onkyo 603 for a pair of 602 s1 from Scrat (thanks bud) Dop & my oh my was i blown away!!!
I was given a choice of either the 602's or the Boston vr20's & Scrat kindly offered to audition both pairs so i could choose.
I have to admit that i went to the audition with a biased attitude for the B&W's :nono: So we hooked up my receiver to both pairs & didn't do any setting changes to the receiver so it basically just neutral as far as sound was concerned. I will admit the 602's were pretty bright with not much mids or bass but the Bostons seemed to outplay the 602's, they were just as bright though but the mids & bass was much lower & i think it's mainly because the bostons had a much larger cabinet then the 602's. But being the faithful young chap that i am i still chose to take the 602's & after hooking it up to my Kenwood, getting all the settings done......all i can say is that i am AMAZED at the sound from these beauties!!
The highs are as crisp as can be, mids are tight & detailed & the bass extension is low, lower then i expected. Even more impressive is that the sound does not change in any other room, sounds exactly the same even if i am in the room that is behind the speakers. i went as far as going to the bathroom & while doing some paperwork :whistler: listen to the music
& it just brought a smile to my face....think that had to be the best :cr@p: i've ever taken :Whoohoo:
If this is what bookshelfs sound like from the B&W stable sound like, i would absolutely love to hear their larger floorstanders.
