I had some fun this morning.
Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying he was from a Microsoft call centre and had been informed that there was a security breach on my machine and he was going to try to help me out. So I played along. Acted really grateful, made silly idle chatter, acted like an idiot who knew very little (ok maybe that wasn't acting).
He asked me to press the Windows key and 'R' together which I did after many many tries. Then He asked me to type in 'www.fastheal.net' and pressed enter which I did after many many more tries. All this time he kept saying 'take your time sir', ' you will thank us later sir'. When I got to the FastHeal.net site, which I did on my Android tablet so I could see what it looked like, he asked me to click on 'Connect To Technician 3' which I obviously had loads of trouble doing. This action downloads an executable called 'soft3.exe' which he asked me to run. I strung him along for probably another 30 mins at which point a more senior slightly better spoken scammer took over. Strung him along for a long time as well, telling him the machine was unresponsive and I was going to switch it off etc. etc. etc. They finally got fed up and put the phone down.
