I live in a townhouse complex and Vumatel has recently laid cables in our area. The Body Corporate has decided to allow them to lay cables to each of the units as it is free of charge. However, I'm wondering if they haven't jumped the gun, as Openserv, which I think is Telkom, are in the area as well and about four blocks away from us. My biggest concern is that by giving Vumatel the go-ahead the BC has effectively locked us in with Vumatel, which is charging a +-R1 700.00 connection fee per unit, the same price that they charge to connect a house.
