So as I type this, Fibre backbone workers are cutting into the road with big grinders and digging trenches right outside my front yard for purposes of laying fibre. My street is only two blocks long and the first block already has the fibre in the trenches which means our block should be completed this week
I am currently on a 20MB VDSL line which is absolutely 100% trouble-free and my download and streaming times are excellent, but the biggest problem I have is the damage caused every year by lightning strikes. For this reason only, I will be converting to fibre as soon as it is activated. Currently, I do not know who will be offering services through the fibre, I am perfectly happy with Afrihost and hope to continue with them. Time will tell.
I wonder how soon they will actually activate the fibre network?
