Hey all

Ok, so I have been looking into getting a DIY build going (Small bookshelf set) but I have many questions I would like to ask before I start.

Firstly, are there any SA based "kits" that I could use. All I am looking for is a speaker/tweeter/xover combo that will work well together, with some specs on a box. Just to clarify, I'm not necessarily looking to buy these in a nice little package that gets shipped together. I'm just looking for a proven combo of parts that are available in SA. Anything like this available?

Is it a better option to import one of the kits from mediasound? I see there are a few around the $300-400 mark. Is it possible to compare one of these kits to an available retail set? I.e. how good will they be if built properly?

Lastly, I found a thread on the forums that lists speaker suppliers. Now I went to two different sites, one the one site the most expensive driver was around R250 (the rest were around R80) whereas the other sites drivers ranged from R800-High thousands. here are the two sites:

http://www.audiosa.co.za/driver.htm#woofer

Whats the deal with this price difference? Are the cheaper bunch rubbish? or is it just a case of the more expensive ones being really really good? Could you build a decent'ish set of speakers with the cheaper drivers?

And then just for your information. I currently have a comeplete set of B&W 600 series 5.1 system. The speakers are just too big and I would like to eventually have built a new, smaller, set.

Anyways, any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks
