Fitting External receiver to a DTS 500 gate motor

Seems the motor operates on 433Mhz but all my existing remotes are 403Mhz so want to fit an external 403Mhz receiver.
Anyone fitted one? The manual mentions it in passing but doesn't give instructions... neither does google.
