The black stuff has been calling my name ever since I listened to and blurbed about my brother's budget TT here not too long ago. I now have a few records which I am going to try out and see if this can be as satisfying as a long-term prospect. Afraid to spend big bucks on something that might not last I asked Mahleu to hook me up, and he did. A beginners turntable in the form of a almost vintage but fully-functional Yamaha P-220.
Initial impressions are that the sound seems a bit more rich than my digital source. There's nothing wrong with this stuff. The snap-crackle-pop just adds to the character. Feels good actually. Let's see how I feel beyond the honeymoon phase.
The placement on top of the cdp is not ideal but there were no plans for it a year ago so it will just have to survive like this for now.
