Hi,

So we're at the tail end of jazzing up our apartment and I've decided the cheap and nasty looking bias light I have going for my TV just doesn't cut it.

I've ordered a dimmable fluorescent tube light: http://www.ecat.lighting.philips.com/l/lamps/fluorescent-lamps/tl-d/master-tl-d-90-graphica/928043796581_eu// and have installed a mount for the lamp behind the TV using the panel's top mounting holes.

Now the next part of all this is turning out to be more complicated than I expected. Now I've already learnt that I need to buy a Rapid Start rather than an Instant Start socket fitted housing for the tube. Then there's the ballast required for the dimming to work. There seems to be quite a range of specifications available and not much useful information in regards the differences. I've singled out this model:  http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/lighting-ballasts/4783822/ ...would this be the right choice, or is there something about it that may be unsuitable?

Then the next question is the dimmer control, do I just use any old dimmer, or is a special one required? If may be a doff question, but I've come across a Philips dimmer that states "Only for High Frequency dimming ballasts", so I'm wary to ordering any old thing.

Any help in clearing up my confusion would be appreciated.
