While scratching out the "valve amp contraption" in my earlier post I found this Phillips "all transistor" portable turntable made in holland.
My late father must have found it somewhere....

Anyway I thought it would be interesting to share as this must have been the view of the future back then ...lol.

This thing actually still works and makes sound and everything.
There seems to be two problems , 1 the platter don't spin and 2 there is a loose spring at the back , below the tonearm.

Found this 45 single pressed by DOT of Billy Vaughn and is orchestra still intact , ready to be spun .

Now this here is interesting ....
That little white lever (hope you can see it) turns the entire cantilever around as there are two stylus tips on each side.

When you move the arm to the right , it clicks on and that is supposed to let the platter spin I think.
When it gets close to the spindle it clicks off.

Very interesting don't you think
