Often mistakenly called Garnishee orders...
70%of my staff have got them....
My issue is *I* am commanded to take money off their salary
Initially they signed the consent to Judgement orders and have now been "garnished" . which switches the legal liability to ME , the employer , for payment.
Firstly most of these are not valid as the emoluments order was issued outside the juristiction the employer conducts business on
Secondly the figures due are grossly inflated , a R1500 debt become R42 000 what with ******** charges and usurious "expected" interest and what not. the can never get out this debt paying the amounts commanded
Thirdly , how these ppl get so much credit astounds me
The effect on me is what pisses me off more.
My staff are earning less money a month which de motivates them and they adopt a "ahh flip it..I'm not getting paid for that" attitude or puts em into further hardship and I get pestered for loans etc..
Albeit I have explained it is THEIR actions that legally oblige me to subtract and pay over (also an admin nightmare) and I have been commanded by the court , they kinda see it as me doing all this in some personal way to "screw" them over...
