Gas Cylinder 5kg or 7 kg?

On average how much use (cooking time) are you guys getting from a 5kg and 7 kg gas cylinder? Does it make sense just to get the bigger one? Is the 5 kg gonna blow up half the house and a 7kg three quarters of the house if something goes wrong?
