I've got a general question on an amplifier - any amplifier. My understanding of the "best" amp is one that takes the input signal from the RCA's - amplifys it (increases the amplitude) and passes this to the speaker, which has a signal large enough that it can make use of.
So why when we hear am amp, or describe an amp (low or high price) would we say "light on bass or heavy on bass" or "sharp trebles etC).
Surely the these descriptions mean that the amp is not amplifying the "signal", but altering certain frequency bands in relation to the signal as a whole e.g.
