Hi

Since these black Frisbees seem to be more readily available, i'm keen to give it a try. I'm busy getting all the bits together, looked in my dads garage and discovered an old dusty Sony TTS-3000 turntable with a SME 3012 SII tonearm.

I've also uncovered a new still boxed Linn LP12 from about 1987, but it doesn't have a tonearm and has never been set up before.

Since I'm getting started, I don't want to spend a large sum of money just quite yet, but I would like to get an idea of what you guys would recommend...
Phono Stage - Which one can you recommend, I really don't mind DIY'ing my own... or a commercial one with some room for improvement. I've found a Conrad Johnson HV-1 in the midst of looking for turntables, plugged it in, listened but it sounds very thin.. probably needs new tubes. 6CW4, anyone have?

Cartridge - I'm pretty sure I would benefit from a new cartridge and stylus, the SME has a Ortofon F15E at the moment. I'd be willing to splurge about R1.2 to R2k on the cartridge

Anyone have parts for reviving the SME or is there anyone local that has? Its working and in fair condition, but the grommets need replacing and its running 30-year old wire.

What are my options for the LP12, I'm guessing the SME won't fit on the LP12, just looks too big.

Thanks
