I realise cabling is a highly contentious debate on the forum, but my question is more technical (objective)...

To clarify, I'm on the fence about whether cabling makes a big difference to sound, and for now my feeling is that the difference isn't big enough for my heathen ears to discern so long as the cable meets the minimum requirements to carry the full signal (yes, I can here some of you guffawing back there!!!).

So, with that in mind, I'd like to ask if there is a technical minimum requirement for interconnects between a pre-amp and a power amp? I'm a little confused between analogue and digital coax (both of which seem to be RCA?) and the 75-ohm requirement? Also that some people claim the video RCA cable is not capable of better for carrying the interconnect signal correctly?

The end result I'm looking for is a cable that is GOOD ENOUGH to run between my Marantz SR6003 pre-outs and my Rotel RB993 power amp. There may be better cables, but I just want to know what cable will do the job without very noticeable degradation (or worse, something blowing up or burning out!).

Thanks
James
