Howzit guy's.
i have a friends Harmon kardon amp to try and fix.
since new this amp had a problem with overheating.they could never put the amp inside a cabinet coz it would overheat quite quickly and then switch off.
so they just used it standing on top of the av stand instead of inside, and it was fine.
then it got worse, and started switching off more regularly.without driving it hard.
i took the lid off and inspected a bit and found a 5 volt regulator getting very hot very quick.it seems that the regulator supplies the DAC and the a preamp board .
when you switch the amp on,once the relays close you can hear the transformer work.the whole chassis vibrates .
has anybody had a similar problem before or any advise as to where to look?
