HD READY SYSTEM SUGGESTIONS

Guys I need some guidance please. Have a Denon 1802 AVR with no HDMI ports. Wish to replace my TV with Panasonic 42" Plasma. Could one still use the Denon for sound and use the DVD player's HDMI link to hook up to the plasma or what suggestions would you make. Dont really want to replace all my equipment but would like to enjoy better picture and sound quality. Please help out. Thanks a millio
