HDMI picture but no sound

Hi all,

Please help, last night i tried connecting my BD player & my mede8er to my Pioneer VSX420 AVR through HDMI cables, so i had the mede8er HDMI out & BDP HDMI out connected to the AVR HDMI in & then connected the AVR HDMI out to the TV, i get picture but no sound...? can anyone help with this, previously i had everything connected with optical or coaxial cables but one of my coaxial cables to the amp keeps on coming off. I still have my HD PVR connected to one optical in & run a HDMI cable to the TV, the sound there is fine.
