Hi guys

So, I was a victim of lightning damage last weekend, as I'm sure many others were. My TV, DSTV decoder etc. all are powered off a UPS/Inverter setup, which has it's own built in surge protection as far as I know. However, I've been told that the LNB is still vulnerable.

Anyways, my DSTV Explora decoder HDMI output was fried, and so was the HDMI input on the TV. The funny thing, is that the BluRay player's HDMI port on the TV is also fried.

I've made peace with the fact that I'm going to lose all of my recordings on the Explora (sigh) because Multichoice only swap out units, and won't transfer the drive into a replacement unit. We're currently still using the Explora running into the TV using the RCA outputs, which is super crap in terms of picture quality, but it's the only option right now. :(

For the TV repair, is it a simple repair ? I'd hate to have to replace the TV because the HDMI ports are blown, and you can't get Samsung plasmas anywhere anymore. I'm hoping that the HDMI ports are just a module that can be swapped out. Please say it's so.......

I'm not going to bother with an insurance claim if it's not too costly to fix.
