My wife recently went for a hearing test at a clinic in Constantia.  They highly recommended this Beltone Mira35 model, at R 32000.  It does work, but sound from the TV and portable radios is poor and you are better off taking it out and having a loudspeaker close by.  So I looked it up on the net.  This particular model was discontinued - in 2008!  I called Beltone at their distributor in Jhb and they confirmed they had not supplied this model since 2009 and it last sold at R12000.

Back to the clinic who are adamant that the aid is the latest model.  However, all Beltone's current models operate with an iPhone app for altering programs and volume via Bluetooth.  This one does not.  The clinic director tried to say that Beltone in Jhb did not know what they are talking about, so I got them on the phone.  They had a big row on the phone and the clinic person then tried to say that Beltone had supplied this one and it was most definitely new.  She refused to consider a refund.  When I said that I was visiting the Small Claims Court (even though this is well above their ceiling) she had a change of heart
