Hi guys,

New here - just joined.

I'm currently looking at upgrading from my current Yamaha RX-V450 AVR to something more modern, with better connectivity, i.e. HDMI, lossless audio codecs, good video upscaling, etc. (current options include the RX-V1900 or RX-V3800)

As I've seen on many other forums this is not an easy process, having to filter through miles of hype, opinion, reviews, sales rep talk and so on.  Ultimately (as with me) I'm sure many of you end up looking at a product 2 - 3 times more than you originally budgeted for just because it seems to be "better" ;)

Anyway - I'd prefer to keep my "all Yamaha" system for the moment, but won't lose too much sleep if I have to jump brands in the interest of finding the best solution.  One option which has reared it's head is importing direct from the US or UK, which raises the issue of powering these products (goold 'ol 220V vs 110V).  Would it be possible to safely power a US 110V imported product on our grid for any amount of time?  If so, what kind of equipment would be the best for a safe, reliable conversion? ??? ???

Any thoughts on that one specifically?

Thanks a stack

:)
