Hi folks!
I have recently upgraded from the world of higher end PC audio (5.1 Logitech Z-680 ...the optical port died & spares aren't available) to an entry level older generation Sony 6.1 component system (HT-DDW885).
Although I'm very happy with the performance I'm getting relative to where I was, I am now wondering if the Z-680s satellites are perhaps higher quality than the default Sony cubes - considering the 680s are THX certified, have a metal inner cone and for the most part are heavier (all of which I'm assuming is a positive).
Being a complete beginner I was wondering if anyone could advise me on the following:
1) Given the specs of the 680's satellites, do you think this would be a worthwhile substitute for the rears and possibly the center speaker?
2) The 680s are 8 ohm rated and the amp from what I can gather drives 6 ohms - would this be an issue?
For everything I lack in audio knowledge, I've tried to make up with as much info as possible - I've attached two JPGs with the info I could get, including measurements to try and help anyone willing to give their 2 cents worth
Complete systems comparison: https://flic.kr/p/Li7WeA
Speaker dimensions: https://flic.kr/p/LyYNWw
PS> I'm running my audio via optical cable to the AMP.
Thanks in advance!
