I am wondering if the difference in sound quality is still as big as it used to be. Remember that as with the development of anything else(historically speaking), the longer something is deeloped the better it becomes. So has stereo which has been around for +- 50 years still sound better in audiophile terms then surround sound which has been in the mass consumer market for +- 12 years?

What do think?
