why is it difficult to get a home audition for hifi gear? called a distributor of a UK equipment to check prices and availability. i was told the equipment i'm interested in is not available in the country and it will have to the imported (with me paying for the importation costs!!!). they then tried to sell me another product. the reason i was given: the stuff doesn't move so what the point of keeping stock? if you gonna spend +R15k on hifi gear you deserve to hear it first. the problem is most (not all) distributors import so many brands that its impossible to keep even demo stock. and this thing of me paying for import costs? i know i pay them at shop but don't quote me the price excluding import costs. with all this i wondered if i shouldn't import it myself and save the profit margin i'm giving away. also why cant we buy stuff off amazon, etc?
