They hired a new maid and asked her if she knew how to operate the washing machine, a top loader. All went fine for a couple of weeks. Last Wednesday they were out and got a call from their neighbour. There had been an explosion at their house and there was some screaming. They hurried back to find the window blown out in the laundry and a big mess inside
The maid had put in a half-packet of "Shout" washing powder into the machine. The foam built up until the lid shot off and the pressure blew out the window. The maid ran away screaming, then came back 2 hours later since she left her phone at the house
I had trouble keeping a straight face when I viewed the damage. Strangely enough, the washing machine, a Speed Queen, still works but has a leak underneath
