Hi guys and girls.
This is my first post and I would like to show-and-tell you over the next couple of weeks what an advanced Media Center and Server environment not only looks like, but also what the best hardware, software and setups are.

I am an old-timer where it comes to Linux/Unix and have very intense training in VM's, Lunux and Networking.  I make-do with old technologies to achieve the best possible results.

Ok, with no further adieu, here follows a description of my setup.  Pictures will follow:

SERVER:
1. Hardware: Supermicro Dual XEON (8 CPU's) with 24GIG mem and 4*3TB hot-swoppable bays and 2*1GB Network Cards. (1U Rack)
2. BASE SERVER SW: ESXi 5.1u1.
3. VM's: 4VM's, 3*OMV and 1*#!.

BACKUP Server:
P4 with 6 2TB HDD, with OMV, used for backing up all media.  (I will NEVER be caught with my pants down again!)

NETWORK:
1. 2*48Gb L2 Switches.
2. 1*d-Link ADSL Router (4Mb/s) (450GIG/month average throughput).

Connected Devices:
1. 4*OpenElec Media Centers.
2. 2*Windows PC's
3. 2*Tablets
4. Various Cell Technologies.

In my next message I will start talking about OMV, OpenElec and ESXi...
