From the Freeme newsletter;
A driver on his way back from the Vaal on Sunday pm unavoidably hit a Black-shouldered Kite. Seeing that it had somehow gone through the grille, but was still alive, he drove on slowly so as not to overheat the bird. In Joburg he met Porsche roadside rescue people and FreeMe volunteer Jax who couldn?t remove the bird but treated it for shock and popped in a couple of mice for overnight. On Monday am the car was jacked up and the whole front section removed - apparently the only way to get to the radiator - and the bird was rescued and taken to FreeMe, where it is stressed but otherwise uninjured
