G'day Gents and Ladies,
I've got some house alarm issues. Before I fork out and 'just get someone to have a look' for a few hundred bucks, I thought I'd somewhat try and empower myself as well. I've had a bit of a look around on the web and other forums but it seems my background knowledge is not quite there. Anyway perhaps someone here knows enough to put me on the right track.
We've got a remote panic button which our life-in domestic carries. Her room doesn't have a wire alarm and we just generally want her to be able to push the button at any time. Somehow the whole remote thing has gone south. Push button does no longer = alarm. So I've done the obvious and replaced the battery. The light comes on if you push the button, but no alarm.
To me this means one of 2 things:
- The receiver unit somehow lost its memory
- The receiver unit is dead.
The alarm works fine otherwise.
Where would the receiver unit be situated? Not in the panel I presume. I know where the alarm 'box' is, but what should I be looking for? Would I be able to test it? We have no other remote panic buttons or control for the alarm..
Any ideas on how to re-teach it?
For some reason I couldn't get on Texecom's (the alarm controller is a Texecom) site today.
Otherwise, can anyone recommend someone that does work in this type of thing in Roodepoort/Krugersdorp? The guy I used last time stopped installing and now only sells equipment. I'd not want sommer anyone to come there and fiddle with my alarm. I see that as a security risk.
