Is there a standard/average or quote system or do they just charge what they think you can afford? We are going to be doing extensive renovations soon. As probably happens often, our plans exceed our budget, which means we can't use a Master builder turn-key type contractor, we will project manage and arrange supplies ourselves, just need builders. Have spoken to a couple of recommended builders but can't figure out how they calculate their quotes. Prices range from high to ridiculous.
