hi I have the Pontus 2 DAC together with the matching Gaia DDC. I upgraded from the Ares 2 (which I use in a separate setup). There is a big step up to the Pontus from the ares. Most particularly depth and height of soundstage. My enquiry to Alvin (Vinshine) was what the optimal model was in their range ito law of diminishing returns - answer was the pontus! the price jump to the terminator is a bit obscene. I have many fairly decent level chip based DACs which i compared it to - Prismsound Callia, Chord Mojo, Bel Canto, then DACs via streamers Lumin T1 and CXN V1 and CD player Classe CDP102 - I seem to have develop a taste for the R2R. The presentation is just much more open. hope this helps. happy to chat if you want. just pm me. regards
