Hi Guys,
Since my CDP has been in for repair (a couple of weeks now :'() I find that I am increasingly avoiding playing cd's (on my DVD) and opting for my iPod.
I have the av docking station which uses the iPod's line out pins on the base, rather than using the (noisy) earphone connection. I must admit that it sounds pretty good on my system. I have ripped most of my cd's using Apple Lossless, which seems pretty good. I also have a fairly large library of music from the net (ripped at 256 kbps and above) there again can't complain at the quality either. Incidently most of this music comes from my brother in Spain, where it is legal to share music over the net, their law pretty much states you can do what you like with your music after you have bought it as long as you don't actually copy the cd and sell it for commercial gain. And I do buy the CD's of the artists I like - try before you buy!
My point being - at what stage do we say music quality is acceptable to listen to? Yes I love my CDP and the clarity, detail etc it gives but I must say being able to stick 1000 songs on shuffle while I potter around home all day is really great - even when sitting for an extended listen.......
