Hi All,

I am living up in West Africa at the moment, we have unstable power and thunderstorms that put the ones in Gauteng to shame.

My apartment is quite well protected in terms of power failures by means of generators to manage the power , I have some APC UPS unit which also protect my Marantz AV Receiver/Marantz Universal Disk Player/DSTV Decoder/TV. They appear to have power surge protection on them.

If I do have a power failure, the UPS carries the equipment for around 25 minutes.

I am going to add now a power amplifier to the system which will ultimately draw more power.

How do you manage this in SA, I am sure power shedding etc in the Winter time must be a cause for concern on your equipment.

Do you use UPS/Surge Protectors? Which ones are recommended for AV equipment?

Thanks
