I have an old amp approx 40-50yrs old, in very good condition and seemed to work great on the speakers I initially tested it on but I'd love to see how my main speakers sound with the amp. My main speakers are very nice and would be very expensive to repair if the drivers get fried but lots of people on the forum appear to run these vintage amps on a daily basis as their main amps, how safe is it?
Anyone have an old amp pop and fry the speakers, I suppose even a newer amp could do the same thing?
What exactly happens when an amp running at low volumes fries a speaker, what causes it?
