How to play 5.1 FLAC files?

HI, the eClassical website offers 5.1 FLAC downloads at 96/24 resolution. How can I play these files as surround music? One, undesirable option, is to convert these to AC3 files with Audacity and play the stream out of a media player. The media player I use is too old to stream multichannel FLAC files per se.

Another question arising is, is there any standalone mediaplayer that can handle multichannel FLAC files and HEVC video codecs?
