I have been Mulling over the idea to post this. Not an easy decision.

In January 2019 I bought a used Dac from a avforums.co.za member in Pretoria. Even back then in general the dealings with this person didn?t sit very well with me. However that said people have different ways of doing things. Each one to his own.  Think I paid R12 500 or there about for the Dac.  I paid a handsome deposit via EFT. The balance I paid cash four days later upon collection. I stay about 200 kms away so I had to plan the trip accordingly.
Recently I saw a unit advertised for R25 500.00 from the very same person selling me the Dac.  See the whatsapp attached. ( i could not attach the whatapp so see text below)
1. I am a repeat customer.
2. He has my whatsapp history.
3. People can vouch for me.
4. Everyone I have dealt with lending me their gear (from the forum) I have paid before the time frame lapsed. From Cables to amp I have asked them for their banking details before the agreed time period lapsed so I could pay over their money. These items ranged from R5 000 to R23 500. These individuals were exemplary in their dealings.
5. What I find strange is the way the correspondence via whatsapp was executed. To start of with no greeting. Just a demand with an exclamation!
6. In addition I find it strange that I am not be ?trusted? but he is to be ?trusted? with me paying up front. I was willing to pay over the full amount. (see whatsapp) (Even though I am of the believe the unit is overpriced with about R6000. Of course everyone welcome to charge what they want, I respect that)
7. I find it beyond words that after a couple of days of review to ascertain if indeed I want the item or if compatibility will be an issue I have to forfeit 20% of R25 500.00 upon return of the item. It also means that a person is forced to take the item due to the 20% loss. What a way to do business, FORCE PEOPLE to take it?  Really R5 100.00 to see if I can buy it from you?  Operating your buying and selling scheme from home?

Whatapp conversation below.
[06/05, 13:33] Francois: Hello There!! Hope u are well?  Any chance I can review the ******** for a couple of days please?
[06/05, 13:34] avforums.co.za Member: You have to pay for!
[06/05, 13:35] avforums.co.za Member: Do you have something to trade for?
[06/05, 13:37] Francois: Morne Coetzee knows me well. If I don't want it after 7 days will u refund me in full?
[06/05, 13:40] Francois: And *as* it is others on the forum has loaned me their gear with a view to purchase.  And I promptly paid them even before the agreed dates
[06/05, 13:44] avforums.co.za Member: I can give you best price for cash deal, if you want the refund deal, 80% refund after 7 days I can do.
[06/05, 13:45] avforums.co.za Member: What speakers are you using for the *******?
[06/05, 13:45] Francois: No thank you.  Have a super day. Greetings.

Now, I do understand some will not loan gear with a view to purchase. All good. But to demand 20% ?restocking fee? on used equipment after 7 days from a fellow hobbyist on the forum?(and a repeat customer) Is this the norm? Am i missing something?  In hindsight I suppose this person can offer many reasons why a 20% fee should be demanded. From the after shave i use to the shoes I wear. But I still am gob smacked at this almost a week after the incident. Is this "restocking fee" of 20% the norm? Am i missing the point?

I must confess I find it most outrageous and will never buy anything from such a person. To my own thinking it defies decency and smacks of greed. Or am I wrong?
