I guess the only way to properly test tube gear is with a tube sig genny.

I picked up this little guy today whilst visiting a local met-fab shop.

In the rear of the workshop the owner had a score of racks with all kinds of trinkets. Peeking from under a projector cover I saw this cute little unit... after a small fit of excitement I walked up to it to inspect. The owner of the place, who is a true gentleman, noticed my sheer excitement and told me to take it home with me! My day was made.

I have been looking for a signal genny for quite some time now. At home I opened it to inspect because there was a rattle inside. I expected the worst.

On opening it up I found only a loose screw... and... wait for it... TUBES! This is an all-tube A.F. signal generator.

Works like a charm. Later-on I will replace all vital caps but it seems this unit has not seen a lot of work in its life.
