My Great-Aunt, affectionately nicknamed Cookie, passed away this morning following a long fight with Cancer. The last of our families elders and our matriarch.
She truly was an unforgettable individual, with a heart of gold and a sense of humor as sharp as tack. I truly realized her incredible nature and nurture when my two year old, who on first introduction, hugged and spoke to her as if he had known her forever (they are both old souls, so maybe did have earlier acquaintance). And since then has never forgotten her name or nickname, and jumps at every opportunity to see her. That bit really breaks my heart.
Anyhow, I'm playing music tonight that will ingrain in my mind and soul (as only sound and smell does) what this all means, and what she meant to us all.
