I have recently aquired a head amp (Aurelia) and have been enjoying the preformance thereof and i began to wonder. I have made a lot of effort in getting the best i can for my money, i have pushed the boundries often in terms of what i can afford and what i actually buy. Gone broke for months on end. Most people and i am refering to the people i grew up with, work collegues etc... for them any old music system will do, sometimes which is most of the time the louder the better and the louderst is the most "powerfull" regardless of sound quality. Having plugged in my Grado SR80i and listened i realised that there is a lot of musical information missing if i were listening through a normal headphone out through a standard hifi headphone out. I was wondering: if it was recorded whichever sound i get when listening through this new head amp shouldnt it be easily obvious to any Joe Avarage listeing through their avarage system? why is this "information" hidden so much that you can only hear it through an expensive (relative to Joe Avarage) pair of headphones and headamp. If it was recorded shouldnt I be able to hear it regardless of using expensive gear?
I was listening to Roberta Flack's - "Go Up Moses" yesterday and for the first time since i have known this song the was a very low sounding church organ playing in the backround. I have listened to this song many (millions) times and never picked up this particular sound. when this organ was recorded i assume the artist or recording engineer wanted me to hear it, but why is it not abvious (there) through my avarage gear and only through this "expensive gear" why am i hearing sounds and nuances i havent heard before? i know better componenents are the basis of the answer but how many people are missing out on this experience just because they cant afford better components, shouldnt the artist or recording engineer record it in such a way everyone can hear the music without having to invest in expensive gear?
