Seems like the yellow cone fanbois are all over this. Money spent does buy loyalty in the very literal sense. Vivid have thrown the cat among the pigeons by my ears and upped the ante on Samsung in the premium price bracket. It's been a tour de force and I take my hat off to vivid's execution. I have other proclivities but I am yet to hear something clearly objectionably resonant or out of step from them which cannot be said for some of their peers. They did not take shortcuts in the development and it shows. They use innovative manufacturing techniques and make use of composites materials technology and geometry in an acoustically complimentary fashion. Other manufacturers spend more on fancier veneers and w.h.y where vivid employ high end automotive finishing strategies and very cost intensive manufacturing. Take for example the current 800 series 3-ways. They might employ a large mundorf branded cap in the lowpass of the woofer but the measurements bear clear witness that the visual design took precedence over acoustic design with a huge low mid resonance by simple port geometry. In some models the resonances are louder than the driver level. The gent who reviewed these for the German Audio magazine says they should not have been released as is as it's such a detractor from an otherwise successful design on cello and piano. Forgivable on DIY kit but not at this price point.
