Improving DSTV picture

Can anyone here give me a tip as to how to improve that horrid picture from my PVR to look better on my LCD.
Are there upscalers ?
Kramer manufactures a few things, worth the money ..........?
I bought the MVIX 780 HD and when I playback through the HD. upscaling the pictures are fantastic, but the MVIX,sadly has no inputs.
