For the second time in a few weeks, my Telkom landline is stuffed. A few weeks ago, the (business adsl) line started crackling and hissing and eventually conked-out with no dialling tone. I got a 'reference number' and eventually techs turned up and determined the fault is somewhere underground but not on my premises.
They 'solved' the problem by swopping my wife's functioning line with my faulty line, promising to sort things out in 'a few days'. Her now faulty, crackling and hissing line eventually recovered sufficiently so that she could make and receive calls but only just...
Since Wednesday this week, my line (my wife's former line??) has given up the ghost. No dial tone, just hissing and crackling so I logged a second fault with 10217. I still have intermittent email and internet access which I suppose I should be thankful for.
Also, for many weeks, a Telkom subcontractor has been digging holes all around the streets near my house so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my troubles.
Besides calling 10217 from my mobile, is there anything else one can do to get this dreadful utility to fix my telephone?
